With a view to moderate off-road use of even the 4x2 version of the Panda, Prometeo offers a shelter for the car's front mechanical parts, particularly the oil pan and suspension support frame.
The engine shelter for the 4x2 panda has multiple functions:
- Protects the oil pan and other mechanical parts , in case of contact with large objects
- It has a sledding function in case of snow or mud.
- It allows you to travel on unpaved roads , such as country paths, mountains and all roads with very uneven ground with more safety.
The shelter is constructed of AISI 304 stainless steel, so it is completely immune to rust.
In case of particularly violent impacts with the ground The shelter is designed so that it deforms. The Prometeo shelter is a "sacrificial" element, that is, it is able to absorb the energy of an impact without transferring it to the elements adjacent to it, in other words, it must protect the oil pan and other adjacent mechanical parts.
An overly rigid shelter, on the other hand, could cause damage to the body of the car because it would not be able to dissipate the energy of the impact, but would transfer it entirely to its attachment points.
It should be remembered, however, that in the case of excessive impacts no shelter can fully perform its task, so it is always advisable to avoid violent impacts between the ground and the underbody of the car.
